6S PERFORMERS OF THE SEASON

ADAM DUFF (JR)
MONROE BASEBALL
SPRING 2021

Adam is a solid ballplayer, with a calming but competitive spirit. He was a tremendous leader on and off the field, and with a lost season in 2020, this was his first taste of varsity competition.

Adam batted .333 for the season, leading Monroe in Hits (32), Doubles (9), Triples (2) and RBI’s (19). He also pitched 26 innings for the Hornets, striking out 22 batters with an ERA of 3.231 and winning 2 games.

Adam is a hardworking student-athlete, and he will continue to develop his game during the off-season, setting himself up for a very successful senior season in 2022.

ERIN DYKE (SR)
MONROE SOFTBALL
SPRING 2021

After a ‘lost junior season’ in 2020, Erin had a chip on her shoulder to outperform her sophomore campaign and she did so with a ton of success! This season, she batted .422, leading Monroe in Doubles (5), Triples (3), Home Runs (3), Runs Scored (19) and RBI’s (16).

She also had 61 putouts and 1.000 fielding percentage defensively behind the plate. She was a pillar for her squad on and off the field, providing a younger SWBL team with tremendous senior leadership which will continue to drive success for the program for years to come.

Erin is committed to play at the collegiate level next season at Huntington University in Indiana.

CALEB THOMAS (SR)
MONROE WRESTLING
WINTER 2020-21

Plain and simple, Caleb is statistically the best wrestler in Monroe’s school history, as the All-Time Wins leader (164). He also holds school records with Wins in a Season (45), Career Pins (91), Pins in a Season (29), Career Takedowns (707) and Takedowns in a Season (194).

Caleb is a two-time OHSAA DIV II state qualifier (2019 & 2021), finishing third this season at the District Championships. He’s also Top 15 in takedowns in the state of Ohio all-time.

He is a disciplined and focused student-athlete who has worked hard to get where he is, earning every accolade through grit and perseverance. Congratulations on a tremendous season and career, Caleb!

BROOKLYNN MILTENBERGER (SO)
MONROE GIRLS BASKETBALL
WINTER 2020-21

Brooklynn is the epitome of a blue-collared, no-nonsense student-athlete. She leads her team through her efforts and work ethic in practice and in games, where the statistics just seem to follow.

This past season Brooklynn averaged 9.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.4 steals, which was top two or better in each category for the Hornets in 2020-21.

For her efforts, Brooklynn was named First Team All SWBL for the second consecutive season, as well as Honorable Mention OHSAA DIV I Southwest District by the Ohio Sportswriter’s Association.

As an emerging talent in the regional circuit, Brooklynn has an extremely high ceiling, as her talent is only outmatched by her toughness.

BEN GRIFFIS (SR)
MONROE BOYS SOCCER
FALL 2020

Ben’s offensive stats were impressive, leading his team in goals (23), assists (19) and points this season. For his efforts, he earned SWBL Player of the Year for a second year in a row and was selected to the OSSCA 1st Team All State.

Ben played every game with a calm and consistent demeanor. He was the mark for every team the Hornets faced and even with the defense focused on him, he was able to excel. He and his teammates were outstanding 32-3-4 overall the past two seasons.

He led his team through his actions, displaying character, humility and class every time he stepped foot on the pitch. The Monroe Hornets Soccer program is better because of Ben and he is going to make a huge impact at the next level.

ALYSSA BECKETT (SR)
MONROE GIRLS SOCCER
FALL 2020

Alyssa was a goal machine for the Lady Hornets, racking up 23 on the season and leading her team with 51 points. She was recognized as the 2020 SWBL Player of the Year for a second consecutive year, and named to the OSSCA 2nd Team All State.

Alyssa is a true competitor with a will to win. Given her stature on the field and her statistical prowess, Alyssa was the focal point for every defense she faced. Along with her teammates, Alyssa led the Hornets to a Regional title for the first time in school history.

She was a co-captain who led through her aggressive play on the field, and kind leadership off the field. Alyssa’s contribution to the Monroe Soccer program will be remembered for years to come.

Brady went 2 for 4 with a double, 2 RBIs and scored a run in the Hornets season opener at Goshen.

Landen pitched a no hitter as the Hornets cruise to a 12-1 victory over Xenia this week.

In the Hornets last two games, Hazel combined to go 3 for 5 from the plate with 2 RBI’s, a double, scoring 3 runs and getting hit by a pitch twice.

Brooklynn scored 19 points, pulled in 9 rebounds and had 3 steals in Monroe’s game at Edgewood this week.

Chris began the season with a perfect 3-0 record, pinning each of his opponents from Northwest, Roger Bacon and Milford in the heavyweight class!

Nick recently led the Hornets past Dayton Christian with a 290 game and 476 series. In their SWBL win over Valley View, Nick bowled a 486 series!

Collin scored a game high 19 points with 9 rebounds in the Hornets win over Talawanda! In the three games played this week, he averaged 15.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

Caleb earned two victories by pin this week, defeating opponents from Waynesville and Badin. He is now 22-0 on the season and Monroe Wrestling’s All-Time leader in victories.

The Monroe Boys Swim team recently set a new school record in the Boys 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:53.35, beating the previous record by 2.57 seconds!

Adam had a pair of productive games last week, scoring 13 points in a win over Waynesville and 14 points in the Hornets’ comeback win over Brookville on Saturday, shooting 56% from three point range.

Sam wrestled his way to an SWBL Title in the 195 lb weight class this weekend, concluding a tremendous regular season that ended with a 33-2 overall record.

Paige led the Hornets in scoring with 14 points and 4 assists in Friday’s OHSAA DIV I postseason win over West Clermont.

Marty led the Hornets with 18 points and 3 steals en route to a win over Taylor in an OHSAA DIV II Sectional on Saturday night; Monroe’s first postseason win dating back to 2005.

Alex earned a trip to the OHSAA DIV II District Championships, finishing second at Sectionals in the 145 lb. weight class this past weekend.

Jackson shot a 40 in both of Monroe’s wins this week, as well as a 76 at the Oakwood Invitational on August 6, qualifying him for the all tournament team.

Alyssa led the Hornets with 3 goals in their season opener at Fenwick on Friday night. Monroe shutout the Falcons 8-0.

Zachary had two goals in the Hornets’ win over Alter, followed up by a goal and two assists in Monroe’s shutout of Valley View.

Kayla helped lead the girls soccer team to conference wins over Eaton and Brookville this week, with 3 goals at Eaton.

Collin led the Hornets to a win over Eaton Friday night with 244 rushing yards, 2 rushing touchdowns and a passing touchdown.

Malia has been a force at the net all season, leading the Hornets in kills and the SWBL Southwestern division in attack percentage.

Julia took 1st place in First Singles at the Coaches Classic this weekend, helping her team place second overall. She also defeated her opponent vs Edgewood on Wednesday.

Payton earned her fifth shutout of the season on Tuesday vs Oakwood. She has a save percentage of .828 this season, which puts her among the top keeper in the SWBL.

Wyatt earned a first place finish at the Edgewood Invitational with a time of 16:48.60 leading his team to a second place finish.

Ben tallies a hat trick on Thursday in the Hornets’ 5-0 shutout of Eaton and added an assist on Tuesday in their 3-0 win over Valley View. Ben led the league in assists (17) and finished second in points (57) this season.

Brooklynn played an intricate role in Monroe’s postseason win over Clinton-Massie, netting two goals while helping to control the midfield.

Brooke scored a crucial fist goal off an unassisted corner kick Saturday to lift her team to a 2-0 shutout of Indian Hill and a District Title! She also has an unassisted corner in the Hornets’ 5-0 shutout of Fenwick on Tuesday.

WEEK 13: NOV 2 – NOV 8

Jade scores the lone goal in Monroe’s 1-0 win over Badin on Tuesday night, propelling the Hornets to an OHSAA Div. II Regional Final vs Oakwood. The Hornets went on to defeat Oakwood 4-1 on Saturday night, securing the program’s first ever Regional Title!
